For the attention of Inter County athletes, teams, medical teams and support personnel.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recently published the 2022 Prohibited List. The latest edition of the list comes into effect on January 1st 2022. Inter County players, teams, medical and support personnel must familiarise themselves with the changes in 2022 Prohibited List and can do so in the Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes document.

In particular, there are important updates to the permitted usage of salbutamol and glucocorticoids. WADA have issued a paper on the use of Glucocorticoids in athletes and the general requirements of a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). This document will assist in understanding if a TUE is required in the event of glucocorticoid use.

*Reminder – Inter County players should notify their doctor that they are on the Sport Ireland Registered Testing Pool (RTP), as this will have an impact on how physicians may prescribe medications as part of their treatment and determine the potential requirement for a TUE.*
